RAOTA is a national organisation and is not able to hold Club meetings in the way that local Radio Clubs can. In addition to the annual AGM, held near the Donington Rally each September, we meet at various Radio Rallies, and at 'Get-Togethers'. This page is where the details of each type of event will be shown.

---------------- RADIO RALLIES ----------------

Eric (G3KPU) is our rally co-ordinator. He regularly attends a number of rallies with the RAOTA stand. If you would like to put the RAOTA stand at your local rally, please contact Eric. If you spot the RAOTA stand at your local rally we would be grateful if you could spare just an hour manning the stand to give some of the stand crew a chance to wander around the rally themselves. Don't worry, you won't be left to run the stand by yourself.

Due to circumstances I shall not bother you with, our 2008 rally attendance is currently somewhat uncertain. We cannot guarantee that RAOTA will have a stand at any of the rallies shown other than Leicester. Please remember that rallies can change dates or be cancelled at short notice so check with the rally listing in the monthly magazines or find the rally web sites before you set off on a long journey to a rally.

Our rally list (remember the cautionary note above) is currently: Thorpe Camp (4 May), Spalding (June), Horncastle (July), Barford (6 July), York (July), Telford (Sept), Lincoln (Sept), Galashiels (Oct), Leicester (24/25 Oct) Barnsley (Nov).

---------------- GET-TOGETHERS ----------------

Ian (G4EAN) has been championing this idea for some time. Get-Togethers are informal gatherings of members and their guests, not necessarily organised by Committee Members. They vary in scope from ad-hoc meetings at Radio Rallies where the 'formal' RAOTA stand is unable to attend, or a natter over a cuppa at a members' QTH, up to organised meetings at tourist attractions, with a meal. Ian organised the first Get-Together at Derby 4 years ago, which has turned into a regular annual event. In recent months other members have announced other Get-Togethers at various locations around the country, so Ian's perseverance & flag waving finally seems to be paying off.

Dates of 2008 Get-Togethers so far announced are.....

Friday 25th April
Adrian and Mavis are running another GT at the impressive de Havilland (Mosquito) museum between 11am and 4 pm. Members, potential members and guests are welcome.

The Museum, run by volunteers, is opening for our sole use. In addition to free parking, we will be providing lunch in their clubroom. The cost of entry has risen this year and at the time of writing we expect the cost for the day to be £6.50 per person to cover admission to the Museum, hire of the clubroom and lunch.

To indicate your intention to attend, or request more details, contact Adrian & Mavis Soane.
Telephone 01582 833451 (QTHR) or via EMAIL

Saturday 10th May
A RAOTA “Get Together” is being organised by Gordon G4DRF based on the Thorpe Camp Museum site and the adjacent 13th century village pub “The Bluebell”. For further details download Gordon's information sheet. For more information or to express your intent to attend, contact Gordon G4DRF via EMAIL , or by phone at 01526-353696

Saturday 17th May
The Derby GT is on Saturday 17th May in the Brunswick Hotel. It commences at 11am and we have the room until 5pm. The cost per person will be around £5. If you want to come to this GT then please contact Ian G4EAN to book your place.

NB : Ian has asked me to point out that bookings for this GT are a lot lower than in previous years. This means that we may not be able to have a private room. Ian currently has only nine people on the list so he is tempted to release the private room back to the Inn and meet in the bar.

Anyone planning to attend this GT needs to book their places with Ian (G4EAN) so that he can book enough meals.

Friday 24th & Saturday 25th October
Leicester Amateur Radio Show. A new date, but the same venue. Hopefully will avoid the problems experienced in 2007. Plus of course, our AGM at the Tudor Hotel on the 24th, and we are planning an evening meal to celebrate our Golden Jubilee.

Saturday 20th September
The Muckleburgh Collection / NNARG GT will be Saturday 20th September. The contact for this GT is Bob Finch GØHYZ on 01263 838198. More details of this GT in the next issue of OTN.
