-------------- APRIL 2008 --------------

Did you know G6HL?
Ofcom have re-issued G6HL's call to the North Norfolk Amateur Radio Group for use with G6HL's magnificent station located at the Muckleburgh Collection. The call will be launched on a date to be announced and before that the Group would like to hear from anyone who knew or worked G6HL before he died in 1997, with a view to arranging skeds on the launch day. Contact Tony Smith G4FAI, QTHR, or via EMAIL for more information.

-------------- FEBRUARY 2008 --------------

OTN85
Ted tells me that OT News 85 will be at the printers by the middle of February, so should start appearing on doormats a few days later. A copy of the cover and contents page can be viewed HERE

G5XW
Russell will be active at various times between 13-23 Feb from Morocco. Hopefully also IOTA AF-065, using call CN2XW. For further details look on qrz.com. QSL via Home call.

G3BHT
We have been advised that Brian (G3BHT) became SK on 23rd January. No further details are available as yet.

9J2BO
Can be found on 14.320MHz daily at 1600GMT, or on 21153 when conditions dictate

2EØWRX
The February issue of the members list contains this callsign, but it should read 2EØRWX. His membership number is 1953. When he rejoined RAOTA recently, he was issued with a new number (2197) until it was realised that he was not a new member, but a re-joining one. He had made about 25 copies for the RAOTA jubilee award using that number, before being re-issued with his old one, but logs containing either number will be accepted.

-------------- DECEMBER 2007 --------------

Bert Glass
A regular listener to the RAOTA nets, with a passion for CW, Bert has his 100th birthday on 23rd December. In his early days he worked with rotary spark transmitters. He now lives in a care home, but despite being blind and in fairly constant pain his spirit is in no way diminished. His hearing is excellent and his mind is alert and clear.

I'm sure you join me in sending best wishes to Bert for his coming birthday, and for the festive season which follows it.

Junction 28 Rally
Unfortunately this rally has had to be cancelled this year. See the EVENTS page for more details.

RAOTA Members List
The December list is now available in as a PDF file, by emailing G3ZPF via the address on the CONTACTS page.

OTNEWS 83
This is now at the printers. An image of the cover is HERE, and the contents HERE

GALASHIELS RALLY
Peter (GM3OFT) sent me a note about our presence at this rally. He and SWL Jimmy (from Moffat)
had an interesting day manning a large impromptu stand at the Galashiels Rally, which by previous standards was only modestly attended with very few 'big name' retailers present. Nevertheless, a good day for RAOTA with plenty of members calling at the stand. In addition we gained 5 new members. Peter hopes to have some stand pics ready for OTNews 85.

G3PPD is SK
Stuart passed away on 4th October. A previous editor of OTNews in its early years, and while a member of the BARTG committee in the 1980s was heavily involved in the development of the ST5 RTTY Terminal Unit.

MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR DEREK (GU4GG)
Derek's cremation was held in Guernsey, but his 3 sons will be holding a memorial on 24th November, when his ashes are interred at the Golford Cemetery, Nr Cranbrook, Kent, where his XYL Dina is buried. A graveside ceremony is planned, but if the weather is inclement it will be held in St Dunstan's church. Either way, the proposal is to retire to The George Hotel (Stone St Cranbrook) for tea and refreshments, where people can chat and reflect on Derek's life.

This is intended to be informal and David (one of the sons) asks that anyone wishing to attend contacts him so that he can estimate the catering requirements. Via EMAIL, or by post to Mr D.Wintle, Braehead, Bank of Gallery, By Montrose, Angus, Scotland DD10 9JU
